Pre-Installation

Before you begin installation, remember to P.A.C.E. yourself with the checklist below.

P.A.C.E. Pre-Installation Checklist

  • Prepare Job Site
  • Acclimation
  • Control Subfloor Moisture
  • Environmental Conditions
Quick Tip: Cavalieri Hang Loose vinyl uses a drop-lock system with a built-in acoustic pad. 100% waterproof with no acclimation required. Score and snap with a utility knife — no power saws needed.

Material Preparation

Order 5% extra for cutting waste and grading. Inspect all planks in daylight before installation. Shuffle from multiple cartons for best color variation.

Subfloor Requirements

  • Clean, dry, flat to 3/16" per 10-foot radius
  • Wood: Securely fastened, moisture ≤ 13%
  • Concrete: Fully cured (60+ days). Moisture barrier required. Max 8 lbs calcium chloride or 90% RH
  • Existing hard floors: Well-bonded, clean, level

Radiant Heat & Expansion

Compatible with floating installation only (max 85°F surface). Leave 1/4" expansion gap around all walls and fixed objects.

Drop-Lock Floating Installation

Installation Steps

Step 1: Measure room width. Ensure final row ≥ 1/3 plank width. Leave 1/4" expansion gap.

Step 2: Begin along the longest wall with spacers. Cut tongue off first row.

Step 3: Connect first-row planks by dropping the short end into place.

Step 4: For subsequent rows, angle the long edge at 20° into the previous row and press down. Slide and drop the short end to lock.

Step 5: Stagger end joints by at least 6". Use cut pieces ≥ 8" as row starters.

Step 6: Use rubber mallet and tapping block to fully engage all joints.

Step 7: Rip final row to width. Remove spacers and install transition moldings and baseboards.

Quick Tip: The built-in acoustic pad eliminates the need for separate underlayment. On concrete, only a moisture barrier is needed beneath the flooring.

Care & Maintenance

  • Sweep or vacuum regularly with soft-bristle broom or vacuum without beater bar.
  • Damp mop with pH-neutral vinyl cleaner. No steam mops or abrasive cleaners.
  • Wipe up spills promptly. Use felt pads under furniture.
  • Place doormats at entrances. Maintain temperature 60°F–80°F, humidity 35%–55%.
  • Protect from prolonged direct sunlight.
