For most Florida homes, SPC-core luxury vinyl plank is the best all-around choice — 100% waterproof, handles 70–90% humidity without warping, installs over slab-on-grade without acclimation, and costs less than tile or hardwood. Porcelain tile is the most durable for wet areas. Engineered hardwood is the right choice for bedrooms and living areas where the look and feel of real wood is the priority.

Single rooms take 1–2 days. An open-plan living and dining area (400–600 sq ft) takes 2–3 days including subfloor prep. A full main floor (1,000–1,500 sq ft) takes 3–5 days. Whole-home installations (2,000+ sq ft) are typically completed in 5–8 days. Tile and hardwood installations take longer due to adhesive cure times and acclimation requirements. Yes. We offer complete floor removal and haul-away as part of our full-service residential installation. Old carpet, LVP, laminate, hardwood, and tile are removed, disposed of, and the subfloor is inspected before new flooring goes in. This ensures your new floor performs correctly and avoids the height and moisture problems that stacking new flooring over old can create.

Yes — all furniture must be cleared from the installation area before our crew arrives. We recommend moving furniture to an adjacent room in stages for large installs. We do not move or reassemble furniture, electronics, pianos, or safes. Kitchen appliances (refrigerator, dishwasher) must be emptied and disconnected before kitchen flooring work begins. Our project coordinator will provide a full prep checklist when your job is scheduled.

Porcelain tile is the gold standard for full waterproof performance in bathrooms, laundry rooms, and kitchen wet zones. For shower floors and walls, porcelain tile with properly waterproofed substrate (Schluter Kerdi or RedGard membrane) is the only correct choice. SPC-core LVP is an excellent alternative for kitchens and half baths — it is 100% waterproof, warmer underfoot than tile, and much faster to install. Laminate and engineered hardwood should never be used in bathrooms.

In some cases yes, but it's generally not recommended for Florida homes. Installing new LVP over existing vinyl adds height that causes threshold and door problems. In Florida, moisture trapped between layers can cause adhesion failure and mold. We almost always recommend removing the existing floor so we can assess and treat the subfloor — protecting your new floor's warranty and long-term performance.

Central Florida averages 74% relative humidity year-round. Wood-core products — solid hardwood, bamboo, and some LVP lines — absorb ambient moisture and can swell, cup, or gap with seasonal changes. SPC-core LVP and porcelain tile are completely inert to humidity. For solid or engineered hardwood, proper acclimation (3–7 days on-site) and correct expansion gaps are critical. We spec only products proven to perform in Florida's humidity — never products that may work in drier climates.

SPC luxury vinyl plank is the more practical choice for most rooms: waterproof, humidity-stable, faster to install, and less expensive. Engineered hardwood is the better choice when real wood aesthetics matter most — for master bedrooms, formal living rooms, or homes where resale to wood-floor buyers is a consideration. Many Orlando homeowners choose LVP throughout kitchens, entryways, and main living areas, and engineered hardwood in the master bedroom — getting the best of both.

6–8 mil wear layer is adequate only for low-traffic bedrooms. 12 mil is the standard for main living areas. 20 mil is recommended for entryways, mudrooms, and homes with pets or heavy foot traffic. In Florida homes, we recommend 12 mil minimum for all areas due to fine outdoor grit that acts as an abrasive against thinner wear layers. We provide a 5-year installation workmanship warranty on all residential projects, covering defects in installation technique — improper seams, buckling from incorrect expansion gaps, and adhesive failure. This is separate from the manufacturer's product warranty (CALI Floors carries a lifetime residential warranty on click-lock LVP). Our warranty is transferable if you sell your home within the warranty period.
